Melbourne Backflow – Security Hardening, Performance & SEO Optimisation

Melbourne Backflow is a subsidiary website of Vic City Plumbing. While the site had not been compromised, an initial technical review revealed potential security vulnerabilities and performance inefficiencies that could pose future risks.

Given the issues previously experienced on the main Vic City Plumbing website, this project focused on preventative hardening and long-term stability, rather than emergency recovery.

The work began with a targeted technical audit, reviewing WordPress configuration, server setup and SEO fundamentals. Based on the findings, a structured optimisation plan was implemented to align the site with best-practice security and performance standards.

Key work completed included:

• Proactive security hardening at both WordPress and server levels
• Review and cleanup of unnecessary plugins and configurations
• Performance optimisation including caching, asset optimisation and Core Web Vitals improvements
• Technical SEO enhancements to improve crawl efficiency and indexing consistency
• Alignment of configurations with the parent Vic City Plumbing website for maintainability

The project resulted in a more secure, faster and technically consistent website, reducing future risk while strengthening SEO and overall site reliability.
